Four options (1, 2, 3 or 5 days) to explore the mountains of Uzbekistan, near Samarkand. These modules are suitable for those wishing to walk through the mountains and typical villages.


Day 1/  Samarkand - Tepakul
Tepakul transfer. Tepakul is a large village half an hour from Samarkand. Built in earth, he kept all its authenticity. Hiking towards the neck of Langar (2200 m) which allows us to discover the rural life and traditions still very strong in the village and the hills environnnates. If we climb a little, we dominate the plain of the valley of Samarkand and Kashgadaria. Back to Samarkand end of the day.

Day 1/  Samarkand - Tepakul (30 km)
To fully know the life we will leave the Uzbek village of Tepakul, where we share a night with the villagers. Estimated walking time 3-4 h in the mountain Zerafchane.

Day 2/  Tepakul - Shakhrisabz - Samarkand
Morning departure for Shakhrisabz, the former Kesh, birthplace of Tamerlane. We visit the "White Palace" (Ak-Saray XIV s), including the impressive remains of the portal offer unparalleled mosaic decoration. Kok Gumbaz mosque fifteenth century, the mausoleum-Gumbazi Seidan especially Hazrati Imam Mosque evoke the splendor of this city. We arrive at Samarkand in the late afternoon.

Day 1/  Samarkand - Tepakul (30 km)
To fully know the life we will leave the Uzbek village of Tepakul, where we share a night with the villagers. Dinner and overnight at the inhabitant.

Day 2/  Tepakul - Taragay

The trek will start at dawn towards the Langar Pass (2200 m) which dominates the plain of the valley of Samarkand and Kashgadarya. We can admire the snowy peaks of Pamir. We have a picnic on the neck before going to Taragay, the birthplace of the father of Timur (Tamerlane). We can soak up the atmosphere unusual rural architecture of landscapes. Evening with the villagers we host for the night.

Day 3/  Taragay - Shakhrisabz - Samarkand
Morning departure for Shakhrisabz, Kesh old, birthplace of Tamerlane. We visit the "White Palace" (Ak-Saray XIV s), including the impressive remains of the portal offer unparalleled mosaic decoration. Kok Gumbaz Mosque (fifteenth century), the mausoleum-Goumbazi Seidan well Hazrati Imam Mosque evoking the splendor of this city.
We arrive at Samarkand in the late afternoon.

Day 1/   Samarkand - Kizil Kum - Forige
Samarkand, we take the road to reach the big Aul (Village of nomads, settled by Russian Bolsheviks). We In the afternoon, stroll by the lake Aydar Kul. Meeting with fishermen, swimming (seasonal). At the end of the day, drive to the mountain village of Forige: Paris Uzbek. Tamerlane gave the names of famous cities in the world to villages around Samarkand, because he wanted his capital dominates the world. Overnight homestay. First meetings with Uzbek mountain.

Day 2/   Forige - Norvon - transfer Tepakul
Day of hiking. We regret to leave our family home, through the village and join a small stream that we follow in the freshness of the trees. We leave the trail, and after a few zig-zag in vegetation shave more and more dry, we come to pass around 1700 meters above sea level, a few vultures hover, the view extends far over the mountains of Pamir Alai at our feet the Norvon green valley in which we descend. Quickly, we reach the first sheep to pasture, then the outskirts of the village. Picnic along the river.
We find our vehicle to drive south-east towards the mountain Zerashan. Arrive late afternoon in the village of Tepakul. Tepakul is a large village half an hour from Samarkand, built into the ground, he kept all its authenticity, our host family is particularly warm and very welcoming home. Overnight homestay.
4-5 hours of walking. M: 700 m approx. 150 km away. 2 hours 30 minutes drive.

Day 3/  Tepakul - Taragay
Must leave early ... but the day touring will be beautiful! Quiet climb an easy path and following the well-trodden valley. It's very nice. We soon on a shelf dominated by a set of rocks sculpted by erosion, the trail zigzags between these beautiful and it is the Langar Pass (2200 m). Then there are beautiful lawns altitude where shepherds moved with their herds of goats and sheep for the summer. Picnic near a cool spring. The first path down a steep but easy, follows a rocky, narrow valley, the valley widens, and soon they are the first fields; surely we will meet men who, with their asses, come cultivate. We arrive at Taragay, birthplace of the father of Timur (Tamerlane), where we find the life and architecture of traditional mountain villages. Evening shared with our guests. Overnight homestay.
6 hours walking. M: 800 m.

Day 4/  Taragay - Shakhrisabz - Ayoqchi
Departure in the morning to Shakhrisabz vehicle, the ancient Kesh, birthplace of Tamerlane. The latter had built the great "White Palace" Ak-Saray (fourteenth century), whose impressive ruins of the portal offer unparalleled decor tiles. Kok Gumbaz mosque, (XV century), the mausoleum-Gumbazi Saydon especially Hazrati Imam Mosque, complete memory of the splendor of the city. After visiting Shakhrisabz, we take the road to the mountain Zerafshan. Arriving at the village of Ayoqchi where Tajiks and Uzbeks living together. Meeting with the villagers, ranchers and farmers. Overnight homestay.

Day 5/  Ayoqchi - Tersak - Samarkand
At dawn, we say goodbye to our guests. The last houses of the village land, surrounded by fields, égrennent along the river. Our trek continues between broad valleys and small valleys, but always ridgeline until Takhra Karacha pass (1900 m), where we see a panoramic view of the snowy Pamir Alai nearby. Picnic neck. Throughout the day, there are many meetings as the hills are alive: horses, sheep and goats graze under the watchful eyes of the shepherds, fields, thanks to irrigation canals, are grown on small ledges. The descent into the valley Tersak sometimes wild, sometimes cultivated is beautiful. Arriving at the village, the inhabitants still a little surprised that we got so far welcomed us warmly. Our minibus waiting for us. Immediate transfer to Samarkand (45 km).
7-8 hours of easy walking. M: 1200 m.
NB: For those who do not wish to make this long trek, it is quite possible to make a small hike in the morning (very nice) and join the group in the late afternoon with the vehicle carrying luggage.
